Resveratrol has the ability to prevent the first step that occurs in the multistage process of breast cancer. In testing, reseachers found that 10 umol/L of resveratrol would be beneficial. A single glass of red wine has roughly between 9 and 28 umol/L of resveratrol. So sit down and relax with a glass of red wine. Cheers!
We’ve long known that a diet rich with anti-oxidants helps to decrease the risk of cancers, and now we have more evidence that points to red wine, and importantly the grape’s skin as a good source of protective effects. We also know that any fruit or vegetable with a dark colorful skin such as blueberries, acai berries, grapes, tomatoes and eggplant all have flavanols, flavonoids and deeply pigmented skin that not only protects the plant, but also has immune protection for those of us who eat them.
Keeping in mind how important it is to have more colors of vegetables on your plate, do look for fruits and vegetables with deep rich colors, like radicchio, plums, red peppers and blackberries. They taste better too.
